About Us
:: Underground Textbook Exchange ::
Located just off Library Mall at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
(http://www.wisc.edu), The Underground is a private organization that opened in
May of 1999 to provide competition in the monopolized textbook industry on the UW-Madison campus. The Underground supplies the academic
community with textbooks, supplies, and tools for the mind. Because there
is no "official" bookstore serving the UW, students have a choice when shopping
for books and other materials, and our goal is to provide a sensible economic
option when it comes to the ever-increasing cost of education. Not only
that, but we pride ourselves on our attention to customer service and do our
best to provide a friendly, alternative textbook shopping atmosphere.
Over the years, the Underground Textbook Exchange has established itself within the UW community as a reputable and reliable resource for students and faculty alike. We have taken part in and donated to many student organization fundraising events, and are always looking for new ways to be involved in non-textbook related aspects of student life. If you belong to such an organization, please contact us to find out how we can help you.
